Our colleague Ismael Caballero, in collaboration with researchers from the Grupo 2D4H-Secondary Data for Healthcare Research and researchers from the Biomedical Data Science Lab, of the Instituto Universitario de Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicaciones (ITACA) of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) have published the paper Multisource and temporal variability in Portuguese hospital administrative datasets: data quality implications in the Journal Journal of Biomedical Informatics (JIF:8.000/Q1) published by Elsevier. The article is available under Open Access license and can be downloaded from https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jbi.2022.104242.
The article presents a method to study the variability of data across multiple sources and the temporal variability of such data. This method is useful for detecting abnormal patterns in health data, while also addressing some limitations of common approaches.
