  • Women's and Girls' Day
    in science

    15th February 2023

Our colleague Marcela Genero coordinated the activities carried out on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at Escuela Superior de Informática de Ciudad Real.

On February 9, Marcela was interviewed by CRTV, at the photocall of scientists held in front of the Polytechnic Building (you can see the interview from minute 12 of the following video).

In this interview Marcela comments on the good trend of employability that Computer Engineering is experiencing and will experience in the coming years. In particular, she highlights that society will have to face many challenges in the coming years of which ICT will be the center and women should not miss this opportunity to be protagonists of this reality. He also highlights that, although the gender gap is a reality in the Degree in Computer Engineering, in recent years, thanks to the relentless advocacy work done, there has been a slight growth of female students in our classrooms. And also that the number of women hired in companies in the ICT sector is growing. She therefore encourages girls and their parents to learn about the countless opportunities offered by the Degree in Computer Engineering and why not in the future have them in our classrooms.

He also organized the activity Adventure with Scientists, held on February 10, in which professors and researchers from the School of Computer Science offered various activities, in which more than 50 primary school students participated enthusiastically.
