On February 7, was held the institutional act in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the change to "Escuela Superior de Informática" (ESI) and the incorporation of 5 years curricula of Computing.
Our colleague Francisco Ruiz participated as Director of the School between 1993 and 2000. Paco stressed the importance of this milestone because it was a mandatory requirement in order to have the human, material and regulatory resources to be able to carry out advanced teaching, research and transfer. He recounted some of the actions and strategies that were carried out from the creation of the former "Escuela Universitaria" in 1989 until the change to ESI in 1998 and his resignation as Director of the ESI in 2000. Key among them was the policy of recruiting PhD professors, among them our colleague and leader of Alarcos group, Mario Piattini. Hence, in the summer of 1997, the Alarcos group began with Mario and Paco, who were soon joined by young people formed at the School itself and from outside.
