  • CDTI approves the QSalud project: "Quantum pharmacogenomics applied to ageing" in which the Alarcos Group participates

    28th December 2020

CDTI has approved the project QSalud: "Quantum pharmacogenomics applied to aging" within the program MISSIONS of the Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation. The project is coordinated by Alhambra and the companies participating are Gloin and Madrija, as well as researchers from the University Institute of Biosanitary Research of Extremadura (INUBE), the University of Extremadura (UNEX) and the Alarcos Group of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM).

The general objective of the QSalud project is, above all, human: to increase the longevity and the quality of life of the elderly, something to which it will contribute thanks to the research it carries out on the relationships between genetic conditioners and other variables of the health trajectory of the elderly throughout their lives, including the reaction that drugs can trigger in the elderly, so that the possible adverse effects that a certain drug may have on the health of an elderly person can be predicted based on their history of taking drugs, the effects of the drugs and their physiological and genetic conditioners.

To achieve this goal, QSalud researches and designs the scientific, methodological and technological models needed to define the scientific and technical foundations of a classic/quantum hybrid system, capable of performing optimizations and simulations impossible to perform in reasonable execution times on classic computers. This system, thanks to its integration with classic health applications, will provide its results to health professionals in charge of prescribing medicines to the elderly.
