Alarcos Group has been working for years on metrics to measure the quality of its own data. In addition, based on the ISO/IEC 25000 family of standards, it has designed a data quality assessment process. This knowledge has been used by several companies and organizations to improve different dimensions of data quality: accuracy, completeness, etc. and some of them have managed to certify data quality with AENOR.

A framework has been developed to manage the quality of data used in IoT (Internet of Things) environments, based on ISO 8000 international standards. This environment has been implemented in the platforms of the companies Lucentia and GTONE.

Members of the Alarcos group collaborated with the International Social Security Association (ISSA) of the United Nations in the development of Guidelines that Social Security Institutions can follow to implement the governance and quality management of the master data on members they use.

Alarcos Group members actively participate in the development of several parts of the ISO 8000 series, namely ISO 8000-60, ISO 8000-61, ISO 8000-62 (project we lead), ISO 8000-63, ISO 8000-64 and ISO 8000-66, they also participate in ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7/WG6 in charge of the ISO/IEC 25012 standard.

The Alarcos Group has developed several maturity models for data governance, management and quality processes. These models, based on ISO 8000 standards, have been used to evaluate and improve different processes in both organizations and companies. Some of them have even obtained the corresponding certification by AENOR, which has incorporated the Alarcos Data Improvement Model (MAMD) in its digital ecosystem as a complement to the AENOR IT Governance model.

The company Cronos Ibérica S.A. (currently Grupo Alten) is one of the pioneers in consulting services and database development. The Alarcos group developed a series of metrics for the quality of database models (relational and object-relational) as well as data warehouses to help them improve the design of this type of data repositories.
