The validation approach is selected, such as simulation or analytical techniques, to gain insight into the
characteristics of the BP model prior to its implementation. The use of analytical techniques needs a high degree of
expertise on the techniques to carry out the validation, on the other hand, simulation is based on tools which
provides the needed environment to run the simulation of the BPs, alhought the definition of the different scenarios to
be simulated also need expertise but from knowing the business and the specific BP (i.e. to define values for the
simulation: rate of arrival of new cases, activities duration, use of resources, probabilities of decision flows, among
others) . Several quality characteristics can be also assesed on the BP model such as complexity.
