  • Data-driven governance in the social sector: opportunities and challenges in a changing world

    13th October 2021

Our colleague Ismael Caballero has participated as a speaker in the Round Table entitled "Data-driven governance in the social sector: opportunities and challenges in a changing world", held within the 2021 edition of the International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV), held from 5 to 8 October.

The theme of the Roundtable was the importance of Data Governance in the Social Security Sector, and was hosted by the International Social Security Association of the United Nations. The session was moderated by Dr. Raul Ruggia, Director of the Social Security Development Branch of the aforementioned organisation. More information on the full session can be found https://www.icegov.org/track/2021-roundtable-session-5/ .

Ismael, in his talk entitled "Big Data management and quality assurance", discussed the importance of establishing adequate data governance programmes to optimise the performance of Big Data deployments to analyse different aspects related to Social Security data.

The Alarcos Group's relationship with the International Social Security Association (ISSA) was established a few years ago when several researchers from the group participated in a project to draft guidelines for the implementation of master data system solutions for social security.
