On April 5, our colleague Ismael Caballero was invited to give a lecture in the subject "Advanced Topics in Health Informatics" of the PhD Program Health Data Science (HEADS) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. The HEADS Program is directed by Professor Alberto Freitas.
The lecture, given simultaneously in face-to-face and online format, covered general concepts of data governance, existing frameworks in the market, with special emphasis on the Alarcos Model for Data Improvement (MAMD) and an example of application related to the coding of clinical data with IC9/ICD10 in hospitals was presented. The talk was followed by a discussion regarding the role of data governance in hospital management, as well as the possible impact of the creation of a European health data space on the future of medical research.
