  • A methodology for classifying business rules for data quality evaluation

    07th June 2022

Our colleagues Ismael Caballero, Fernando Gualo, Moisés Rodriguez and Mario Piattini have published the article "BR4DQ: A methodology for classifying business rules for data quality evaluation", in the international journal Information System (JIF: 2.309 / Q3) published by Elsevier. The article is available under Open Access license.
    Summary

To assess data quality, it is necessary on the one hand to know the data quality requirements of the users (which are established in the form of data quality characteristics) and on the other hand a set of business rules. For a more efficient evaluation, these business rules should be grouped with respect to the different chosen data quality characteristics (in our scope selected from ISO/IEC 25012). This article presents the BR4DQ methodology, which, through 5 phases, allows to identify, capture, classify and maintain business rules, making the data quality assessment process of a data repository much more efficient.
