    • Ismael Caballero participates in the IE Program "Big Data, Business Analytics &IA Management"

    Our colleague Ismael Caballero has participated in the "Big Data, Business Analytics & IA Management" Program of the Instituto de Empresa teaching the subject "Data Governance with International Standards".

    The course was taught in two sessions. In the first session, the need to manage data as organizational assets considering its growing importance in the new economy was motivated; the concepts related to data governance and data quality management were introduced; the ISO/IEC 25012 and ISO/IEC 25024 standards for the quality of data products were explained.

    In the second session, it was explained how data governance programs can be developed through the process approach included in the UNE 0077, UNE 0078, and UNE 0079 specifications on data governance, data management and data quality management. These standards have been recently published by UNE and promoted by the Data Office of the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation. It has also been described how the Alarcos Data Maturity Model can be used to assess the organizational maturity level based on these new specifications. Finally, case studies were presented to illustrate the concepts introduced.
